What is Strabismus?

In the case of strabismus, your eyes are not aligned, but rather look in different directions, and the parallelism is distorted in simultaneous eye movements. A surgical procedure to cut a muscle or ligament to correct strabismus is called a squint.

When is a strabismus applied?

In cases where eyeglasses or other strabismus treatments are not preferred in both children and adults, surgical methods may be used. The doctor decides whether the eye is suitable for the surgical method or not.

How is Strabismus applied?

The eye is not removed from the eye socket for surgery. The eyelids are kept slightly open with a lid. A small opening is made in the surface of the mucous membrane of the eye to access the muscles.

Most strabismus surgeries take less than one to two hours. However, the patient remains in the operating room for several hours, including pre- and post-operative care.

Lasik Laser

Lasik Laser Surgery is modifying the shape of the cornea. Removing a thin layer out of the cornea surface and keeping a small part of being eye related, so that part has been pushed back ( this step can be made with Femto Lasik or IntraLASIK). Lasik Laser operation is involved a precision instrument called Microkeratome. Then, the cornea surface layer is returned to be docked with no need for surgical sutures.

Surgical Success in Seconds Using Lasik Laser:

Although you stay awake during the Lasik Laser Operation, you will not feel any pain.
After applying an anaesthetic solution to the eye, the eyelids are gently removed by the doctor.

As you look at a flashing red light from seconds to 2 minutes (depending on the requested modification) , the excime laser modifies the shape of the inner cornea.

Then, the surface of the outer cornea is put back in place and left to dry for many minutes.

The doctor may recommend the daily usage of eye-drop or wearing laser safety glasses to protect against the sun’s damaging rays.

It is better to have a relative or a friend to get back home and help with the early hours.

Lasik Eye Correction is a quick, effective, and painless procedure according to the correction required. For some, the patient may have itchy eyes and get upset for a few days when the doctor advises them to relax and take the painkillers. So it is an extremely safe process.

Reasons for the LASIK LASER Surgery:

Myopia: when the eyeball is slightly longer than normal or the curvature of the cornea is very sharp, the rays of light are focused in front of the retina leading to blurry vision. In such cases, you see things in close much clearer than the distant ones.

Hyperopia:  when the eyeball is shorter than usual or the cornea is flatter, the rays of light are focused behind the retina instead of it. That sometimes leads to a blurry vision for both close and distant things.

Laser use:

Laser surgery can repair a retinal tear or hole.

The surgeon uses a laser to heat specific points on the retina and this leads to the creation of scars that connect (solder) the retina with the underlying tissues.

Immediate laser treatment for a recent retinal tear reduces the chance of it causing a retinal detachment.

Laser shrinking of abnormal blood vessels:

A doctor can use a technique known as (dispersive laser photocoagulation) to shrink new abnormal blood vessels that are bleeding or threatening to bleed into the eye.

This treatment can help people with diabetic retinopathy.

Emptying and replacing eye fluid:

In this process, which is called the process of (vitreous resection), the surgeon removes the gel-like liquid that fills the inside of the eye and then injects the eye with air, gas or silicone fluid instead.

This operation can be performed if bleeding or infection forms a cloud on the vitreous that has lost its transparency.

This operation can be part of the treatment of people with a retinal tear, diabetic retinopathy, macular hole or retinal detachment.

Eye injection:

The doctor may suggest injecting medication into the vitreous in the eye.

This method is very effective in treating people with wet senile macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal diseases caused by cardiovascular diseases.
